We are extremely fortunate to be able to offer our community a full range of interesting and dynamic Saturday classes. Our 7.5 acre facility is available for hands-on learning activities. Please see our Saturday list of class offerings and be aware that we are continually updating our Saturday offerings as additional classes are approved and scheduled. We are committed to offering fun and interesting classes every Saturday!
Our Saturday courses are fee-based, with an average cost per session of 39 dollars. Please note that some courses that are more than one session, and some classes will have an additional materials fee.

Finding the Essence of a Tree
This class covers the identification of different tree forms such as slant, formal upright, windswept,
clump, and pruning techniques for these various forms. Special emphasis will be given to unique
characteristics of selected trees.

Come and learn to do Bonsai! These design principles are the same for a tree one foot or one
hundred feet tall.

Wedding Bouquets I
This lecture course covers in depth the techniques needed to prune maple trees. Topics such as
seasonal pruning of maples, proper care, trouble, analysis, winter silhouette and form enhancement
will be discussed.
April 17th, 2010
Pruning Flowering Trees and Shrubs
This course covers the pruning, styling and care of most of the flowering trees and shrubs found in
East Bay gardens. Topics include when to prune, selection of tree forms, fertilization and problem
solving.
May 1st, 2010
Pruning Maples
This lecture course covers in depth the techniques needed to prune maple trees. Topics such as
seasonal pruning of maples, proper care, trouble, analysis, winter silhouette and form enhancement
will be discussed.
May 3rd, 2010 to May 24th, 2010
Wedding Bouquets II
Wedding bouquet design techniques and identification of materials. Construction of a basket,
pomander ball, hand-tied bouquet and wreath bouquet using fresh flowers.

Art of the Laceleaf Maple
Culture and history of the laceleaf Japanese maples. Visual presentation of various cultivars and
consideration of their use in the landscape. Placement, care and training to enhance the character of
this tree will be stressed.
