The Landscape Horticulture Department at Merritt College offers a wide range of landscape design classes serving the needs of design/builders, landscape architects and designers, C-27 contractors, and students planning on continuing their education at the university level. Students who complete our course work use the information to help expand their businesses, learn specialties within the profession (perspective drawing, lighting, cost estimating), discuss professional practice and business issues, establish design practices, use computers in their design work, and transfer to four year and graduate design programs. During and after they complete their course work, students can stay connected with our department and each other by attending the weekly Landscape Design Forum seminars offered every semester. We are presently developing an Associate of Arts Degree in Landscape Architecture, to help prepare students for university-level undergraduate and graduate programs, and to provide the minimum educational requirement necessary to take the California Landscape Architectural licensing exam.
